The Illinois Department of Public Health Thursday reported 1,344 new cases of coronavirus with 66 new deaths. One of those deaths was in Effingham County in southeastern Illinois. Hancock, Pulaski and Schuyler counties all reported cases of the disease. There have now been 16,422 total cases in the state with 528 deaths in 81 counties. A bright note-state health officials say there appears to be a slowing in rate of new cases, but they stress that there is still a long way to go to see if the state has flattened it’s curve. People should still follow disease prevention guidelines to the fullest.
