STOLEN VEHICLE PURSUIT

Multiple law enforcement agencies in south central and southeastern Illinois were a part of the pursuit of a stolen vehicle over 220 miles. The vehicle was stolen in Peoria and traveled east to Interstate 57. The chase then headed south to Interstate 70 at Effingham. The vehicle then went east and then exited the interstate at Montrose heading south on the Dieterich/Clay City blacktop. The pursuit then proceeded east into Jasper County on Route 130 and then south into Richland County. An attempt to use stop sticks near Olney failed and the vehicle continued south into Edwards County where the chase ended when stop stick there disabled the vehicle. The theft suspect described as a white male was taken into custody. No other details have been released including the identity of the thief.
