There will be no junior high track and field this school year. Illinois Elementary School Association Admininstrator for Track and Field Nicole Schaefbauer announced Friday that the I.E.S.A. Board of Directors has decided to cancel the 2020 track and field state series. The decision was made because of the extension of school closings and social distancing recommendations through the end of April. That would make it extremely difficult for schools and hosts to conduct any sort of regular season and preparations for sectional and state competition. Plus the lack of sufficient practice would endanger the safety of the student athletes.
