Thomas Joe “Buzz” Conley

Thomas Joe “Buzz” Conley, age 66 of Lawrenceville, passed away unexpectedly on
Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born in
Lawrenceville to Roscoe Fields Conley and his wife Wilma Glow (Tredway) Conley.

Buzz was a member of the Church of Christ for many years. After high school, he
received an Associates Degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. Many remember
Buzz from his days as a bartender at the Lawrenceville Elks. He was also a former
member of the Lawrenceville Eagles. Buzz was a Blues DJ for WVJC and his own radio
show, “Capt’n Tom’s Blues Cruise”, while in California.

He is survived by: his two daughters- Kristin Nola and her husband Christopher of
Sterling, VA and Madison Bean and her husband Miles: one grandson- William Nola: a
baby granddaughter on the way: one niece- Rebecca Potts of Bridgeport: three nephews Steve Potts of Bridgeport, Tony Potts of St. Francisville, and Larry David Potts of
Chauncey: and one sister-in-law- Paula Purcell of Bridgeport.

Preceded him in death were his parents, Roscoe and Wilma Conley, and three brothers,
Larry Purcell, Jim Purcell, and Marion Conley.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the State of Illinois mandates and requirements, all
services for Buzz will be private. And according to his wishes, cremation will take place.
Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville is assisting the family during this
time of loss.
