Lawrence County has been issued a tenative property assessment equalization factor of 1.0000 from the Illinois Department of Revenue. The property assessment equalization factor is known as the “multiplier” which is the method used to achieve uniform property assessments among counties as required by Illinois state law. Property in Illinois is assessed at one-third of its market value with farm property assessed differently. The multiplier is determined annually for each county. Assessments in Lawrence County are at 32.87% of market value, based on sales of properties in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
