Cheryl Winkles captured the Republican nomination for Lawrence County Circuit Clerk in Tuesdays General Primary Election. She won a four person race with 522 votes. Kelly Wolfe was second with 486, Nikki Hobbs third with 474 and Jennifer Adams fourth with 329. Winkles will meet Democrat Tonya Cox in the fall. Cox was unopposed for the nomination with 638 votes. Other winners in the Republican primary in Lawrence County were Donald Trump for President, Mark Curran Jr for U.S. Senate, Mary Miller for 15th District Congress, Darren Bailey for 55th District State Senate, Andrew Hires for 110th District State Representative and Matthew Hartrich for 2nd Circuit Judge. Winners in the Democratic Primary were Joe Biden for President and Erica Weaver for 15th District Congress. Of the 8912 registered voters in Lawrence County 2618 went to the polls on Tuesday a voter turnout of 29%.
