A motion by the defense for accused murderer Ruben Corzine of Mt Carmel to undergo an evaluation to determine his fitness to stand trial was granted in Wabash County Circuit Court Thursday. The motion was filed by attorney James Lane and was not contested by the prosecution. Presiding Judge Larry Dunn then granted the motion. The evaluation will take anywhere from 60 to 90 days to complete by a Champaign physiciatrist. Corzine is charged with murder in the stabbing death of his fiance at their Cherry Street home in Mt Carmel in late January. After granting the motion, the judge postponed the scheduled preliminary hearing for Corzine and set a status hearing for Thursday March 12th.
