Illinois State Police District 12 out of Effingham has released its monthly activity report for January. District 12 does include Lawrence County. Troopers during the month recieved 171 calls for service and initiated over 1400 incident investigations in the field. There were 475 citations issued during the month-264 were for speeding, 7 for seat belt violations, 4 for child restraint violations, 47 for distracted driving and 24 for move over violations. There were 27 criminal arrests made along with 5 DUIS. Troopers investigated 75 traffic crashes in January with four of those being fatal.
