The Lawrence Unit 20 Board of Education met in special session Wednesday night and did approve looking into the PASS (Positive Approach to Student Success) program being implemented in the district in the future. The program is aimed at certain special behaviorial needs students at the elementary level and providing them the intervention and help they need to become acclimated into the general student population. The program would closely follow other similar programs currently underway in Richland County and Newton schools. No firm decision was made and additional information will be provided to the full board. The Board did approve tuition waivers for non-resident children of Unit 20 full time employees and also held a public hearing as part of the process toward selling bonds to increase the districts working cash fund for potential major projects such as roof repairs, cooling tank work, and maintenence of Ed Loeb Field.
