Local and area law enforcement authorities are warning Lawrence County and other area residents to be aware of a phone scam from people claiming to be from a personal computer repair company. They are calling people saying that they need to update their computer anti-virus subscription and need to connect directly to your computer in order so. This is a scam. Never allow people you do not know to access your computer or any other device. Doing so could allow them to get into personal and financial records and other information. Scammers will also ask for payment via Green Dot cards or even cash. Never send gift cards or money to anyone you do not know. The best way to avoid scam calls is to not answer unknown calls. If a suspicious call is recieved, just hang up.
