Illinois Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzger Wednesday gave his first annual State of the State Address to the Legislature in Springfield. He proclaimed that the state is getting stronger every day and touted accomplishments during his first year in office. The governor said unemployment is at a record low, roads and bridges are being repaired, adults can now legally use recreational marijuana and the minimum wage has been raised, but there is more to do. Among those hearing the governor’s remarks were 109th District Republican State Represenative Darren Bailey and outgoing 55th District Republican State Senator Dale Righter. Both men criticized the governor for failing to talk more specifically about key issues such as property tax reform, redistricting, and ethics reform in state government.
