Multiple media reports are indicating that Frontier Communications, the internet service provider for many areas of rural Southern Illinois including Lawrence County may be close to declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Bloomberg News reports that Chief Executive Officer Bernie Han met with some of Frontier’s major creditors privately last week. Frontier has steadily lost both residential and business clients over the last year in the 29 states it services. Company officials have acknowledged that it is seeking to lessen it’s debt load but have not confirmed the bankruptcy reports.
