DAY TO SPEAK TO HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Local history specialist Richard Day will be the guest speaker at the upcoming meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society next week. His topic will be “Pioneer African-American Settlers in Southeastern Illinois.” For over 25 years Day has worked as a site historian at numerous local historic venues such as the Old Cathedral and George Rogers Clark National Historical Park and is also active in living history presentations. The program will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the History Center on 12th Street in downtown Lawrenceville and there is no admission. The public is invited to attend.
