Toyota has completed a $1.3 billion project modernizing its southwestern Indiana plant to boost vehicle production and add 550 new jobs. The project at the assembly plant in Princeton in Gibson County included retooling, new equipment installation and adding advanced manufacturing technology to increase production of the Highlander SUV. Production on the 2020 Highlander recently began at the facility which employs about 7000 people from southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois. It also supports 80 suppliers from across Indiana and Illinois. Among the dignitaries on hand for the announcement was Indiana governor Eric Holcomb.
