Illinois State Police report that two people have died as the result of a two vehicle collision Saturday night on U.S. 50 1 mile west of Lawrenceville. A 1997 Jeep Cherokee being driven by 43 year old Shonda French of Linton Indiana was traveling west on 50 around 7 p.m. and veered across center and struck an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe whose driver was 38 year old Derek Hughes headon. The impact drove both vehicles off the road and into a southside ditch. A passenger with French 37 year old Jessica White also of Linton Indiana died at the scene. A passenger in the Hughes vehicle 74 year old Rodger Hughes of Bridgeport was pronounced dead at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. French was injured and taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Derek Hughes and three other passengers in his vehicle 34 Laura Hughes of Lawrenceville and two females ages 12 and 9 were also injured and taken to Lawrence County Memorial Hospital
