MULES THROTTLE INDIAN OFFENSE IN WIN

The Fairfield Mules held the Lawrenceville Basketball Indians to five points total in both the second and third quarters Friday night and rallied for a 61-36 win over the Tribe in non-conference play at Fairfield. The Indians played well in jumping out to an 18-11 lead after one quarter but their offense then disappeared. They made just 1 of 23 field goal attempts while being outscored 40-5 in the second and third quarters. During the stretch the Indians were 0-9 from three point range and made 3 of 7 free throws. The Mules took advantage and grabbed a 32-21 lead at the half and a 51-23 advantage after three quarters enroute to the win. There were no Indians in double digits with Blayne Winningham and Skyler Tewell each notching 9 points. Kane Hixenbaugh and Landon Zurliene led the 13-2 Mules with 14 points each. The Indian JV also lost 60-42. With the loss the Indians had a two game winning streak snapped. They are back in Little Illini Conference play Tuesday at home against the Marshall Lions.
