IHSA RESCINDS DISTRICT FOOTBALL PLAN

Member schools in the Illinois High School Association have dropped plans to use district scheduling during  football season. The controversial new format was supposed to start in the 2021 season. But schools across the state rescinded the plan this week by a vote of 374 to 241. The results were announced Tuesday. Football teams beginning in 2021 would have been assigned to districts instead of conferences with seven of the nine games to have been scheduled by the IHSA. More study will be done on the issue in the future.
