Derek Sterling Blair, age 30 of rural Lawrenceville, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday 9, 2019. He was born in Olney on August 21, 1989 to Dennis Blair and his wife Jill (Robbins) Blair.
Derek graduated from high school then went on and received his certification as an HVAC technician. Most recently he had been employed by Weston’s Lawn Care. Derek enjoyed baseball and fishing, but his favorite thing was to spend time with his son, Andrew.
Surviving family includes: his parents- Dennis and Jill Blair of rural Lawrenceville: his son- Andrew Blair: his siblings- Matthew Ryan Blair and his wife Kaitlyn of Owensville, IN, Teanna Maddox and husband Stephen of O’Fallon, MO, and Melissa Moran of St. Charles, MO: paternal grandparents- Paul and Patricia Blair of Bridgeport: maternal aunt and uncle- Mitzi and Tim Tate: paternal great-uncle and great-aunt- Gerry and Carol Bathe: and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Marjorie Robbins, and his great-grandmothers- Opal Yelch and Charlotte Bathe.
A funeral service for Derek Blair will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at a later date.
