A small crowd was on hand Tuesday evening for the Lawrenceville City Council informational meeting on allowing recreational marijuana sales inside the city limits. Those sales will be legal in the state of Illinois starting January 1st. 6 city council member along with Mayor Don Wagner were on hand for the session at City Hall. Talking points included the benefit of additional sales tax revenue to the city, keeping drug money local and creating business and jobs through the cannabis industry and the medicinal advantages to having the drug available locally. The City Council is expected to vote on the issue at their next regular session at 7 p.m. on Thursday December 12th at City Hall.
