BRIDGEPORT CITY COUNCIL MEETS

The Bridgeport City Council met in regular monthly session Tuesday night at City Hall. They recieved an update by Mayor Michael Craske and City Superintendent Shannon Selby on the city lagoon project. The council passed the 2019-20 Tax Levy Ordinance for $21,000 up from the previous levy amount. Police Chief Scott Murray indicated that the new police squad car is being outfitted with lights in Effingham and should be ready for use in the near future. Councilman Chuck Lemeron will resign his council seat after moving out of his ward. A replacement will be decided at a later date. Councilman Tyler Griffin reported on the recent downtown greenspace meeting with the public. A number of ideas were given for uses of the area but no firm decisions have been made. The councils park committee will accept more ideas and hopes to come to decision for the Main Street location by spring.
