Illinois State Police out of Effingham will be conducting Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) in Lawrence, Richland, Jasper, Clay, Crawford and Effingham counties during this month of November. Those patrols focus on safety belt and child safety seat belt laws. Illinois state law requires that all vehicle passengers both front and back be buckled up. Studies indicate that half of vehicle occupants killed in a traffic crash were not properly buckled up.
