The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday will begin mailing ballots to eligible Lawrence County and area farmers for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections. Those committees help the FSA make decisions on such items as commodity support programs, conservation programs and others. Each committee has three elected members who serve three year terms. One third of each committee’s seats are up for election each year. Newly elected members take office on January 1st. Any eligible voter who does not recieve a mailed ballot can pick one up at their local FSA county office. Ballots must be returned to the local FSA county office or postmarked by December 2nd.
