A Texas man has died after being involved in a two vehicle accident on Interstate 70 in Effingham County. Illinois State Police say that a 2004 Mazda being driven by 19 year old Gerardo Navarrete of El Paso was traveling east and ran into the rear of a 2019 Peterbilt semi truck trailer whose driver was 46 year old Cecil Dodd of Harriman Tennessee. The semi was stopped in traffic at the time. Navarrete was pronounced dead at the scene by the Effingham County Coroner. Dodd was uninjured. The death was the third on 1-70 in the Effingham area in the last 48 hours.
