Zetta Marie Pinkstaff Sellers

Zetta Marie Pinkstaff Sellers, passed away on October 21, 2019 at 7:30p.m. at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She is survived by four children Dennis Sellers of Flat Rock, Illinois, Gary and wife Barbara Sellers of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Karen Sellers of Nevada, Iowa and Shari Sellers of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Christina, Benjamin, David, Jonathon, and Mark; along with seven great-grandchildren.

She was born at the family farmhouse in Allison Prairie Township on July 18,1925 to Elmer and Amanda (Griffin) Pinkstaff. She was married to Edgar Sellers and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2010. She had two sisters, Maxine and Wilmeth and one brother, Wilson. All preceded her in death.

During World War II she served on the home front at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio, with her sister Wilmeth. Her brother, Wilson, served in the Army Air Force in the South Pacific as a pilot. He was killed in action on December 05, 1942 on a bombing mission.

Zetta graduated from Eastern Illinois Teachers College in Charleston, Illinois in 1948. That same year she married Edgar Wayne Sellers in Charleston, he served in the Army Air Force during World War II. She graduated with a degree in teaching. Zetta and Edgar moved several times until settling in Park Ridge, Illinois, where her two daughters were born and raised their family there, until returning to the area in 1991. Her son, Dennis, was born in Danville, Illinois and Gary was born in Urbana, Illinois. She taught stenography, typing and Consumer Education at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois for 14 years. She then switched to Personnel Director at American Farm Bureau’s national office in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Her two sisters also graduated from Eastern with teaching degrees. Wilmeth moved to Texas and Maxine and her husband, Ivan Crawford, farmed the family ground.

Zetta was a member of the Allison Prairie Church of the Brethren. She was active in her church, quilting and a member of her church council. Her family is interred in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery and will join them there.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation is also Saturday from 11:00am until the service hour of 1:00pm. Burial will take place at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to the Pet Port in Vincennes, Indiana with envelopes available at the funeral home.
