Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzger and the Illinois Department of Transportation have announced the Annual Multi-Year Plan of road and bridge projects across the state. The plan is the first part of the governor’s overall Rebuild Illinois capital plan. Over the next six years $23.5 billion will be invested in maintaining, preserving, and expanding over 4200 miles of roadway and 9.2 million square feet of bridge decking statewide. According to the plan for District 7 which covers southeastern Illinois, Lawrence County will have ten projects which will include work at Beaver Pond Ditch, Muddy Creek east of Sumner, and the Red Skelton Bridges over the Wabash River in eastern Lawrence County. The projects are also expected to create and support hundreds of thousands of jobs over the next five to six years across the state.
