LAWRENCEVILLE TO GET NEW POLICE OFFICER

The Lawrenceville City Council met in regular session Thursday evening and were informed by Police Chief Jim White that a new officer will be joining the force. Nick Earnest was selected from among three candidates to replace Byron Middlecoat who has resigned for personal reasons and rejoined the Lawrence County Sheriffs Department. Earnest has worked part-time for the City and currently is with the Robinson Police Department. He will be formally sworn in next week. The Council did formally approve the annual tax levy ordinance of around $500,000 on second reading. Mayor Don Wagner presented a Key To The City to local businesswoman and entrepenuer Jan Loeb for her contributions to the betterment of the city. The mayor also indicated that planning is continuing for the upcoming Halloween Parade on Tuesday October 29th in the downtown area.
