The freefalling Chicago Cubs committed five errors including two in a seven run seventh inning Tuesday night to lose their seventh game in a row-a 9-2 defeat by the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The loss moved the team to the brink of elimination in the National League wild card race. The Pirates sent 13 batters to the plate in the inning as they chased starter Kyle Hendricks and erased a 1-0 deficit. Hendricks had allowed no hits until the sixth and no runs until the seventh when things unravelled. The Cubs would be eliminated with one more loss or one more Milwaukee Brewer win. They will try to remain alive Wednesday night in game two of the three game series sending Jon Lester (13-10) to the hill against Dario Agrazal (4-5) for the Pirates. catch the action on Lite 103 WAKO beginning with the pregame show at 5:30 p.m. Central Time 6:30 Eastern.
