Newton running back Marshall Tarr ran for 218 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Payton Birch passed for 2 TDS and ran for another as the Eagles scored 28 straight points to rally past the Lawrenceville Football Indians Friday night at Chivesky Field in Newton 28-14. The Indians scored twice in the first quarter on a 52 year TD pass from quarterback Brenyn Winningham to bother Blayne and a two yard run by the Indian signal-caller but that is all they would get. Newton cut the lead to 14-7 after one quarter and then added two more scores in the second to take the lead at the half 21-14. There was no scoring in the third quarter. The Indians did have a couple of chances to score in the second half with the ball at the Eagle 5 and 15 yard lines but could not get into the end zone. Birch cemented the contest with an insurance TD in the fourth. The game was marred by injuries to some key Indian performers as Brenyn Winningham was knocked out of the game with a concussion and running back/linebacker Dayman Parkman suffered what appeared to be a serious neck or head injury and had to taken off the field on a stretcher. The loss drops the Indians to 1-3 on the season while Newton improves to 2-2. The Tribe are back at home Friday night against the Flora Wolves.
