The Lawrence County Board met in regular session Wednesday and recieved a request from Sheriff Russell Adams for the potential hiring of an additional fifth deputy for his department. The Sheriff cited his concerns for officer safety and public safety as reasons for the request. The board was receptive to the request and indicated the matter will be looked into to see if it is financially feasible. The board did approve the reappointment of Eric Seitzinger to the Russell-Allison-Ambraw Levee District, Brett Parker to the Birds Drainage District, Daniel Primus to the Allison Mutual Drainage District and Dr Rachel Winters to the Lawrence County Health Department Board. Also approved was the forgiveness of around $125,000 of unpaid waste water treatment plant fees for the Lawrence Correctional Center west of Sumner.
