INDIANS STUN TIGERS WITH COMEBACK

Lawrenceville Indian quarterback Brenyn Winningham scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 13 yards inside the final 7 minutes of the game as the Tribe rallied to stun the defending Little Illini Conference champion Paris Tigers 22-20 Saturday afternoon in the home opener at Ed Loeb Field in Lawrenceville. The win snapped a 13 game losing skid for the Indian program and was the first win for new Indian head coach Travis Reider. The Indians played their best half of football to lead 6-0 at the half after a scoreless 1st quarter. The Indian TD was scored on a 43 yard pass from Winningham to older brother Blayne. The Tigers scored in the 3rd to tie the game at 6-6 then took the lead with 2 Nathan Zorn TD runs in the fourth before the Indian comeback gave them the lead with a little over a minute to go. The Tigers then moved downfield before the Indian defense stiffened and stopped them on downs as the game ended. Winningham had his best game at QB as he hit 13 of 23 passes for 275 yards with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions.  Blayne Winningham caught 5 of those passes for 111 yards and the touchdown.  Zorn ran for 109 yards on 13 carries for Paris. With the win, the Indians improve to 1-2 on the season while the Tigers fall to 2-1. The Indians hit the road Friday to Newton.
