CARATINI HELPS CUBS SWEEP METS

Victor Caratini homered twice off ace Jacob deGrom and drove in all the runs in the Chicago Cubs 4-1 win Thursday night over the New York Mets at Citi-field. The win completed a three game sweep of the series. Jon Lester went 6 innings for the Cubs who lead Philadelphia by 2 1/2 games for the second NL wild card spot and the Mets by 5 games. The victory also narrows the gap between the Cubs and St Louis Cardinals to 1 1/2 for the NL Central Division lead. The Cubs are back home Friday for an important series with the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. It will be Chase Anderson (6-3) going for the Brewers and Jose Quintana (11-8) for the Cubs in the opener.
