CUBS HOLD OFF METS

Kyle Schwarber, Nicholas Castellanos, and Ian Happ all hit homers off starter Noah Syndergaard as the Chicago Cubs built an early nine run lead and then held on to beat the New York Mets 10-7 in game two of their three game series at Citi-field Wednesday night. Syndergaard allowed 10 runs and was pulled after three innings-the worst start of his career. The Mets did rally late and had the tying run up in the bottom of the ninth before Cub closer Craig Kimbrell picked up his 12th save. With the win, the Cubs move two games behind the St Louis Cardinals in the NL Central. They also remain two games ahead of Philadelphia and four over the Mets for the second NL wild card. The Cubs will go for the sweep Thursday night sending Jon Lester (10-9) to the mound against Jacob deGrom (8-7) for the Mets. The game comes your way at 5:35 p.m. Central Time 6:35 Eastern on Lite 103 WAKO.
