CUBS WIN OVER METS IN KEY SERIES

Javier Baez homered and drove in three runs to back the solid pitching of Yu Darvish in a 5-2 win Tuesday night by the Chicago Cubs over the New York Mets at Citi-Field. Addison Russell also added a two run homer and two more hits in the win. The win snapped a three game losing skid for the Cubs and extended the Mets losing streak to four. The win also pushes the Cubs three games ahead of the Mets for the second NL wild card. It also keeps them three games behind the St Louis Cardinals for the NL Central Division lead. Pete Alonso of the Mets hit his 42nd homer of the year breaking the single season team record. Game two of the series is Wednesday night with Kyle Hendricks (9-9) pitching for the Cubs against Noah Syndergaard (9-6) for the Mets.
