USDA AGRICULTURE DISASTER DECLARATION

Good news for local and area farmers. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has declared a federal agriculture disaster for all 102 Illinois counties including Lawrence citing historic flooding across the state. The declaration announced Thursday will allow farmers that experienced extreme delays in spring planting to access federal funds to aid their recovery efforts. The entire state saw one of the wettest springs ever which resulted in delays in getting corn and soybean crops planted.
