St Louis Cardinal pitcher Jack Flaherty was dominant Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs. He allowed only one hit, struck out nine and walked two in seven shutout innings to lead the Redbirds to an 8-0 win in the finale of their three game series at Busch Stadium. The win moves the Cards one game ahead of the Cubs for the lead in the NL Central. The game was tight with the Cardinals leading 2-0 until Matt Weiters clubbed a three run homer to cap off a four run outburst in the bottom of the sixth inning to increase the lead to 6-0 and put the contest out of reach. Jon Lester took the loss for the Cubs. The Cubs finished a 3-6 road trip and will look to get back on track Friday afternoon at home against the Milwaukee Brewers in another key NL Central series. It will be Jose Quintana (8-7) for the Cubs and Zach Davies (8-4) for the Brewers. Catch the action at 12:45 p.m. Central Time 1:45 Eastern  on Lite 103 WAKO.
