Paul Goldschmidt homered for the seventh time in eight games, a solo shot off Yu Darvish in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday night lifting the St Louis Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs in game one of their three game series at Busch Stadium. The blast was his 25th of the season. It gave the Redbirds a one game lead over the Cubs in the National League Central Division. The Cardinals scored their other run on a wild pitch by Darvish. Javier Baez drove in the only Cub run with a single in the bottom of the third inning. Jason Heyward had three hits for the Cubs in the loss. Game two of the series is Wednesday night with Kyle Hendricks (7-8) pitching for the Cubs and Miles Mikolas (7-10) going for the Cardinals.
