The latest unemployment figures for June in Southeastern Illinois were released this week by the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The data shows that joblessness in Lawrence County rose slightly from May to June. The May rate was at 4.8% and rose to 4.9% in June. In Richland County the June rate was 3.8% up from 3.5% in May. In Wabash County the June rate was at 3.6% up from 3.3% in May. However in Crawford County unemployment did drop slightly from 4.1% in May to 4% in June. The IDES also indicated that the unemployment figures for all those counties for June of 2019 were well below the levels for June of 2018.
