The Lawrenceville Rezoning Commission met Wednesday at City Hall for a hearing on the requested rezoning of the MACH-1 Convienience Store property by parent company Meier Oil based out of Teutopolis. Meier is seeking the rezoning change from R-1 (residential) to B-3 (highway business) to allow for the expansion of the current location at 15th and State streets to include a video gaming area and a pizzeria. The Commission heard from Meier representatives and residents in the surrounding area at the hearing. They then took the matter under advisement and later voted 4-0 in favor of the request. The recommendation to allow the rezoning will now go to the City Council for a vote at their next session August 8th.
