HOT GIANTS RALLY LATE OVER CUBS

Joe Panik hit a go-ahead double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday night at Oracle Park to rally the streaking San Francisco Giants to a 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Austin Slater and Brandon Crawford also had RBI hits to key the late comeback against Cub reliever Pedro Strop who took the loss. The Cubs led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth. Robel Garcia and Kyle Schwarber each hit a solo homer for the Cubs and Anthony Rizzo added a RBI double but it was not enough. The Giants won for the ninth time in ten games to move back into wild-card contention. Game two of the series is Tuesday night with Yu Darvish (3-4) pitching for the Cubs and Madison Bumgarner (5-7) for the Giants.
