PADRES SALVAGE ONE FROM CUBS

Francisco Mejia homered and Fernando Tatis Jr drove in three runs to lead the San Diego Padres to a 5-1 win Sunday over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The visitors with the victory avoided a three game sweep of the series. Both Mejia and Tatis had two hits apiece for the Padres who cemented the contest by scoring three runs in the top of the ninth. The Cubs are now 7-2 after the All-Star break and will be in San Francisco Monday night to open a three game set with the hot Giants at Oracle Park. Pitching pairing for game one has Alec Mills (0-0) going for the Cubs and Shaun Anderson (3-2) for the Giants.
