The Vincennes City Council met in regular session Monday evening. After a public hearing with no opposition they did pass on second reading an ordinance which would vacate Shelby Street and a nearby alley to allow for continued development of that area owned by Vincennes University. The ordinance will be formally approved on third and final reading at the next council session on Monday the 22nd. The ordinance is being amended to address easement concerns from utilities in that area. The annual Spirit of 76 award was officially presented to Doug and Karen Halter for their ongoing work to beautify Vincennes.
