accident-4-3

Authorities responded to an accident Tuesday Morning on US 41 near Camp Arthur Road involving serious injuries to a Washington man. Preliminary investigation revealed that 21-year-old Kayden Riggins of Washington was driving southbound on US 41 when he approached a 1996 Mercury driven by 83-year-old Nelda Eaden of Vincennes. Riggins lost control of his Nissan when he moved into the passing lane. Riggins crossed back into the driving lane in front of Eaden’s vehicle, and then struck a guardrail. Eaden attempted to avoid colliding with Riggins’s Nissan by driving into the passing lane. Riggins was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from his vehicle into the passing lane, where he was drug down the road 160 feet by Eaden’s Mercury before she could come to a stop in the median. Riggins was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, where he is being treated for serious injuries. Eaden was not injured in the accident. An unnamed passenger in Riggins’s vehicle was not injured.
