CONTRERAS DRIVES CUBS TO WIN OVER BRAVES

Willson Contreras homered and drove in three runs to back the solid pitching of Jon Lester as the Chicago Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves 8-3 in game one of their four game series at Wrigley Field Monday night. Jason Heyward added a solo homer for the Cubs who increased their lead in the NL Central to one full game over Milwaukee. Lester improved to 7-5 with the victory allowing two unearned runs with seven strikeouts. The Cubs strung together five straight hits in a five run bottom of the fifth to break the game open. Game two is Tuesday night with Max Fried (8-3) pitching for the Braves and Adbert Alzolay (1-0) making his first start for the Cubs.
