Javier Baez hit a three run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday to lift the Chicago Cubs to a come from behind 5-3 win over the New York Mets at Wrigley Field. The game winner came off reliever Seth Lugo. Pedro Strop pitched the ninth and picked up a save. Pete Alonso of the Mets helped them to the lead early with his 27th homer of the year which broke Darryl Strawberry’s record for most homeruns by a rookie in a season set in 1983. The win gave the Cubs a split in their four game series and snapped a two game losing skid. The Cubs are right back at it Monday night as they host the NL East leading Atlanta Braves in the first of a four game series.
