ROCKIES SALVAGE ONE FROM CUBS

Peter Lambert allowed four hits over seven innings and struck out nine to win his major league debut Thursday leading the Colorado Rockies to a 3-1 win over the Chicago Cubs in the finale of their three game series at Wrigley Field. The 22 year old righthander retired 11 straight batters before Kris Bryant doubled with one out in the sixth. He later scored on a Javier Baez single which turned out to be the only Cub run on the day. Ian Desmond had an RBI double to put the Rockies ahead to stay 2-0. Jose Quintana took the loss for the Cubs. The Cubs remain at Wrigley Field Friday to open up a three game set against the St Louis Cardinals. it will be Cole Hamels (4-2) pitching for the Cubs in the opener against Miles Mikolas (4-5) for the Redbirds.
