The Lawrence Correctional Center at the Lawrence/Richland County line will be participating in the Law Enforcement “Torch Run” for Special Olympics Illinois this Sunday morning.  This leg of the run will begin at the correctional facility at 8:30 in the morning and end up at the Richland County Courthouse in Olney at around 10:30, where the torch will be passed off to the Olney Police Department.  The public is invited out Sunday morning to greet the runners as they arrive at the Courthouse.  There will be Torch Run shirts for sale at $20 and hats for sale at $15 with all proceeds to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.  The statewide Torch Run also begins Sunday at twenty-two (22) other locations in Illinois with over 3,000 law enforcement officers carrying the Flame of Hope to its final destination, the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympic Illinois Summer Games next Friday in Normal.
