Matt Carpenter hit a game ending double in the bottom of the 10th inning Friday night to lift the St Louis Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Cubs in game one of their three game series at Busch Stadium in St Louis. The Cardinals put together back to back wins for the first time since April 30-May 1st. Kolten Wong doubled with one out off Cub reliever Mike Montgomery and Dillon Maples then came in and issued two walks to load the bases and set up Carpenter’s heroics. Game two is Saturday night with Jose Quintana (4-4) pitching for the Cubs and Jack Flaherty (4-3) for the Redbirds.
