PHILLIES HOLD OFF CUBS IN WILD AFFAIR AT WRIGLEY

Jean Segura and J.T. Realmuto homered off Chicago Cub starter and loser Jon Lester Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field to help the Philadelphia Phillies hang on to beat the Cubs 9-7 in the final game of their four game series. The two divisional leaders split the four contests. The Phillies at one time led 7-0 in the game before the Cubs crept closer in the late innings. The tying runs were on base in the bottom of the ninth when Victor Caratini popped out to end the game. Aaron Nola pitched 5 1/3 innings of three run baseball to win his second straight. The Cubs remain at Wrigley to begin a three game weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds Friday afternoon. It will be Anthony DeSclafani (2-2) for the Reds and Kyle Hendricks (4-4) for the Cubs in the opener.
