Elizabeth Steffey hit a two out RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning Monday to drive in the winning run as the Lawrenceville Lady Indians held off Robinson 8-7 in Little Illini Conference play at Phil Alsman Field. The Lady Indians scored 8 runs on 11 hits and made an error while the Lady Maroons scored 7 times on 9 hits with 2 errors. The hosts trailed 3-1 until the bottom of the 6th when they scored 6 times to take a 7-3 lead. The big blow was a two out grand slam homerun by Jayley Akers. But Robinson rallied with 4 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the score at 7 before Steffeys heroics in the bottom of the inning. Melody Lockhart picked up the win in relief. The win was the fourth in a row for the squad now 7-9. The Lady Indians step out of conference Tuesday as they travel to Washington Indiana.
