Carl Lindsay Hensley, age 76 of St. Francisville, passed away unexpectedly near his home on Monday, February 25, 2019. He was born June 24, 1942 in Lawrence County to Rolla and Aretta Hensley.

On August 24, 1968, Carl married Dorothy Jane Fox, and she survives.

Carl served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. Carl was a member of the American Legion Post 947. He also worked at the American Legion, was very active in the military services provided out of Post 947, and was a Past Commander. He and Jane attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church until its closing. They then began attending the Free Methodist Church of St. Francisville. When the weather was nice enough, you could find Carl out in his yard working. He wanted his yard to look nice and have beautiful flowers.

Surviving family includes: his wife of 50 years- Jane Hensley of St. Francisville: two sons- Matt Hensley and his wife Beth of Mahomet and Brock Hensley and his wife Ashley of Newburgh, IN: one sister- Betty Brian and her husband David of Sumner: two brothers- Rolla “Butch” Hensley and Jimmy Dale Hensley: four grandchildren- Chloe Hensley, Rylan Jones, Emma Hensley, and Anna Hensley: and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Rolla and Aretta Hensley: two sisters- Jane Burrell and Jean Meiure: and two brothers- Van Hensley and Harv Hensley.

A funeral service for Carl Hensley will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Free Methodist Church of St. Francisville. Visitation will also be at the church on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery.
